services des cours frames have reynolds 531 tubing, brazed-on race number tabs and the drilled Campagnolo dropouts

Re: MERCIER Road Bike in team colours. Gold Simlex/Mafac Gr

thanks for the info. Its quite difficult to find specific info on mercier's

Re: MERCIER Road Bike in team colours. Gold Simlex/Mafac Gr

Can I ask what is the tubing on this bike then if its not 531. Its a very beautiful bike. Thanks

Re: MERCIER Road Bike in team colours. Gold Simlex/Mafac Gr

I hate to say but I can't tell there was no decals when I got the bike and I couldn't find much info either. If anyone knows help would be much appreciated. I presume/hope it must've been something decent based on the components.

Re: MERCIER Road Bike in team colours. Gold Simlex/Mafac Gr

Ive looked in my Guinness Guide to Bicycling 1976 and two Mercier's are listed in the buyers guide section. The Mont Cenis has 3 main tubes of 531, Stronglight cranks, Simples gears and Mafac brakes. But it has Campag hubs and half chrome plated forks and stays. The Tour De France has full 531, Cinelli fork crown and full Nuovo Record. Pictures are black and white. So neither matches yours. I think it is older than 1984 however as it has large flange hubs and a general lack of braze on's. I think its early to mid 70's. I see there are decals above and below the gear levers, what do these say? Beautiful bike in my size but out of my price range. Good luck with the sale.
