1992 Mongoose Amplifier in Fluro yellow - Finished!

My old build thread and also my first build ever can be seen here:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=197080

I was quite happy with the look of the old build but the rattle can paint job bothered me since its very sensitive and prone to chipping. So I decided to go for a complete rebuild and this time powder coating both the front triangle and the rear suspension triangle.
I found a pretty cool store online to buy powder coating powders since the paintshop had a very limited choice of colours.

http://www.powderbuythepound.com

Along with this build Im also building a Mongoose 1992 IBOC team in Candy purple powder coat for the misses.

Great excuse to buy the m95x set on my amp :) The misses gets my old XT 737 kit

Current status:
Frame: Striped and ready for powder coat
Components: Breaks, Rear mech, and shifter pods arrived in the mail today :)

Risse Racing rear dampener is in the mail :) Brand new from Risse.

Things I still need:
A good Crankset, race face preferably in black.
Break levers
9 spd Cassette
XTR m952 front mech 34.9 Top pull
New cables and liners and other small stuff

(If you have anything I might use on this build feel free to throw me a pm)

Re: 1992 Mongoose Amplifier in Fluro yellow - Rebuild!

You're going to do the powdercoat yourself? How are you going to bake the paint on? Looking forward to see the end-result.

I think that he is using a powder coaters, but just self supplying the colour of choice :D

Yes that is correct, Im only suppling the powder. Decided this time to skip the DIY painting

Re: 1992 Mongoose Amplifier in Fluro yellow - Rebuild!

Me I'd just polish it, then no problem with Paint chipping off or having to blast an alloy frame, will also save some weight as it's surprising how heavy a good powder coat is! Lovely frame btw

Re: 1992 Mongoose Amplifier in Fluro yellow - Rebuild!

Thought about that too. When this powder coat gets worn from massive use it will probably end up polished. :)

Re: 1992 Mongoose Amplifier in Fluro yellow - Rebuild!

Cranks sorted.. Couldn't resist these

I might swap out the bolts for a turquoise ones
Also possible to powder coat the arms in same fluro yellow as the bike :)
