chrome plated fork legs, how to get the chrome off?

they're bubbling, I'm assuming the steel underneath is "sweating" causing the plating to bubbleflake off. how do I get the rest off (cheaply!)
why? if the legs underneath are good I'll get them resprayed, if they're shot I'll chuck them! (pace 1in ahead steerer might be worth something?)
 
if you want them rechroming take them to an auto place. apparently it's just the bike specific places which charge a fortune for chroming.
 
take it to an elactroplaters and ask them to dip them ( acid )

first part of the chroming process is an acid dip
 
rough idea on price anyone? the forks didnt cost me anything, so dont want to spend masses on them!
 
got my rear end for the proflex done for £15.00

done on the quiet , aren`t these things allways ;)
