short cage, long cage....

i got myself an LX groupset and have a short cage rear mech.
is there any reason i'd have any issues using this on a 3x9 setup?

Generally only if you are running a larger big cog on the back than a 28

hmmmmm, i'll be putting an SLX 9 speed cassette on rear - 11-32....

I run a short cage XT with 11-30 and 22/32/44 no problems. If you have very short chainstays you might have trouble. Shimano is very conservative in its guidance.
I suspect things will be tight with the 11-32; 42T outer will work, 44T might be pushing things. But the only way is to try.

i'm almost finished setting it up, minus the chain at the mo, so will find out soon.
if its not a straight answer, then they may be hope to make it work!
