Is this the right room for an argument ?

I thought he was a flambé chef; isn't that a whisk he's wielding, or do my eyes need testing again?

He's a professional film extra who specialises in ruining high budget historic films by sneaking Reeboks and Casios into shot.

But I stop short of LARP

Re: Is the the right place for an argument ?

History Man does have a point. I've sort of looked at this site for a fair while but not regularly logged in much til recently. Much of the stuff I've read is hilarious, a lot is interesting and even more is technically way over my head. You're right, though, there are some elements of unpleasantness creeping in and it's such a shame. It's something that just seems to happen on forums. I know that not everyone can get on and nor can everyone agree all the time but I do think that, occasionally, peeps should think on before spouting off.
We all have opinions and many think their opinion is the only right opinion. It's fair enough to debate but you can't have a go at someone just because they don't think the way you do.
At risk of raising the ruddy helmet debate again - I wear a helmet, I like wearing a helmet but I don't expect everyone to feel the same way. See? It's easy. Just chill. :D

But while I'm on the subject, Historyman - I hope that helmet has got the right kitemark ;)
OK, getting my coat.... :?

What I find Amazing, is without enough knowledge, you presume, two like minded fellas are having an argument, or heated debate, YOU put in your ten pence worth, and then proceed to flame a fire, which did not exsist until you OWN posts.

The fact that I expected to see a thread on its first page, and first post, based on your post on this months BOTM, and did not, merely compounds the fact, YOU my friend are on your soap box, and perhaps even feels you ought to be a moderator.

Sadly you do NOT understand the full facts/previous discussions or opinions, to comment or any level of educated understanding of the topic in hand, if you did, you would see that an opinion of a bike IS NOT a PERSONAL ATTACK or DIG at the person who assembled it.

It is in fact nothing more than an Opinion Voiced.

Fella you need to to a bit of homework before you charge in Im afraid.

 I don't need to know your previous history, nor you mine for that matter, to detect condescension cast down from an ivory tower.

However experienced, knowledgeable and revered you presume yourself to be, it does not excuse what I perceive to be your sage like overblown posts. Often focussing on minor details rather than being generous with your praise. Previous months' BOTM threads have assisted me in forming this view.

As always, only my personal view but yours are exactly the kind of posts I'm not feeling any love for or in.

As for the bonhomie, save it for those more easily pacified or share it prior to being challenged.

PMSL.......NOT JUST A SOAP BOX THEN.

And to be fair, I was making reference to YOUR total lack of knowledge of the topic altogether.

I have said my piece, made my point, and don't expect for you to EVER see further than the end of your nose, so I shall gladly LEAVE you with your soap box, and my Opinions remain unchanged.

C'est la Vie.
