Raleigh Rapide 1983 - Project Old-man - epilogue (P6)

Al,

A fantastic end to the thread. The weather really made it special and both bikes looked well - well, the Rapide is the nicest!!!

Dad's the one on the left with the rapidely (can you see what I did there) hairline, right?

So you thought the story was over.

A chat with Dad a couple of weeks back led to indications he wanted to get more fit (he's not exactly Mr Blobby as you can see!!). He's got a nice new big shed coming his way in a few weeks. Can you see where this is going? Guess what he got for his birthday yesterday:

He was over the moon and can't wait to set it up. I mentioned I expect him to install a couple of heaters Wiggins training style ;-)

So a little bit of retro work is slowly turning into something proper cool. I can't wait till the spring and summer to get back out there. And by then I'll have my very own road bike...(check this thread out ---> viewtopic.php?f=43&t=239743&start=40 )

The story continues....

Next thing will be a modern bike!!

Great stuff,

Richard

Be warned, when us old guys decide to get fit, it's just a matter of time before it turns into a father vs son competition.

You'd better start working hard, otherwise he'll whup you good the next time you ride together.

Oh and for Christmas, get him Riding Past 50 by Joe Friel
