'Won' this today, a relative is collecting it for me as its a long way away.
But it's in such survivor condition that I feel compelled to start a premature thread!

As far as I can see once the cheap accessories and cobwebs are removed its exactly as it left the factory. Matey even has the original bill of sale.
The only difference between this one and the one I had in 1990 is that mine had MT62cantis and this has low profiles.

Can't wait to lay my grubby mitts on it and start cleaning!!

Re: Dawes Raw Nerve (..that I haven't picked up yet!)

Good pics.

Looking at my New Wave and your Raw Nerve, I can see some interesting similarities and differences.

Both frames are 531 Magnum, lugged and fat tubed (or is that phat toobed), but my frame is top pull only, with all three cables running along the top tube. Yours has got the straight leg forks I remember from my original New Wave, but my frame has curved forks.

I know these models were made for a couple of years, possibly with a slight change in graphic, before the paint colours were changed in around 93 to more... sensible shades; the New Wave became a nice forest green.

It will be great to see how this develops back into a ridden bike.

Watching with interest.

Re: Dawes Raw Nerve (..that I haven't picked up yet!)

Yeah they all went top tube routed. I thought it was 92, but your paint and graphics look earlier than that. And you're right, the whole range changed drastically in 93. I think the raw nerve was dropped around that time and the edge got its big brother the edge eXTRa.
I'll have to try and find my 1990 brochure. Those low profile cantis are making me wonder if its a '91 or a mid season change maybe? And it intrigues me to hear your old one had geomax forks? I thought they only came with the raw nerve and the edge?

Re: Dawes Raw Nerve (..that I haven't picked up yet!)

Makes me miss mine seeing this had to sell it to free up some space,it went to good home though. Once you get the polish on it and bring out the purple in the paint it'll look lovely,i loved the way it would change from green to purple when you looked at it in different angles. Regarding the cantilevers mine had black mt62's and was a 1990,apart from that yours looks identical to the one i had. You never know they might of just upgraded them to low profiles when they came out.

It will be getting some more attention when I get chance and it's cool enough up the loft, I had started building but an Orbit came along and jumped the queue.

That looks like a superb "very low miles" example you've picked up there bren, I bet you can't wait to get your hands on it.

It's still not home.

Tucked up safe in a relatives garage up in Sheffield at the moment, but I've just organised replacement top tube decals via a friend
