1993 Merlin **FINISHED Pg.8**

Re: 1993 Merlin - Help Needed

FYI… my 94 Merlin came with a 27.2mm Syncros Ti. it's a snug fit but i'm pretty sure that's the size that it takes.

Re: 1993 Merlin - Help Needed

just checked the 93 & 94 merlin catalogues posted in the gallery/archive section. Both state 27.2mm for seatpost diameter.

Re: 1993 Merlin - Help Needed

My 92 Merlin needs 27mm. I tried 27.2 as told in catalog, but impossible to fit it…

Yes. The two posts I tried, I would have had to pound them with a mallet to get them in. :(

I assume the BB shell is 68mm??

Re: 1993 Merlin - Help Needed

I am yet to build mine but I do know the 27.2 post I tried won't go in.

Re: 1993 Merlin

Did you scotch brited the frame? I had take all three of it

Very good result how I find. Left ready and right to go.

And I know no Merlin with 27.0 post diameter. Ther must be something wrong.

Cheers

I did use Scotch Brite. It worked well. It sounds like there are other people with problems fitting 27.2 seat posts. The frame looks in good shape and didn't seem like there was a problem. I tried 3 different brands of 27.2 seatposts, none of them fit. The 27.0 fits really well. Mystery.

Re: 1993 Merlin

Both my merlins are 27,2 but one is more tight than the other. All the ones I built as a mechanic were 27,2.

Bizarre bizarre! Did you just say bizarre!

When I got the bike the guy included a old, beat up Dean Ti post. I know that was a 27.2, but I didn't try it because I had no intention of using it.
