1988 Team Stumpjumper reborn

Feature Bike
Hi all - I thought it was about time I posted my Spesh.

I bought it in 1989 when I could ill afford it from a mechanic in Bristol. He maintained it was the press bike used in the Bicycle magazine review of the Team Stumpjumper [anyone seen this?].

Anyway, after so many years trusty service I treated it to a Bob Jackson refurb and some new bits. [Still have the huge levers, and cantis - everthing else was knackered or lost along the way].

Not concourse, but in the spirit I hope.

Now a two speed using a Paul chain tensioner, its lovely and light.
Ritchey chainset is not right - will save up for a Middleburn duo.
Love the German titanium stem but it's a tad long.
Specialized GXL21s from the 90s still have some life and I stuck ti axles in the hubs.

:D Cheers and much respect to the incredible machinery I've seen on here. Jon.

There is love in that build. i have been mulling over the idea of using the Pauls to run a 2speeder. I think they like to call it "Goofy"? As in the snowboarders that put the wrong foot forward.
Wouldnt you want a front shifter though?

Wasn't that the model with the Browning electronic front shift, or was that the previous year? Used a hinged plate with a solenoid on the middle chainring to hoik the chain about.
