Matt Black P7

Oven Pride is the business when removing anodising (and cleaning ovens). Brought the old Middleburn up a treat. With a bit polish too.

What a great project - I have (I think) the exact same frame which is pencilled in for a similar restoration. It's my town bike at the moment so gets no off-road usage, the components are just the spare ones I happen to have lying around and the paint is just a deliberately unappealing rattle can job.

At some point I hope to get another scrappy town bike to replace it and start a similar project using as much UK componentry as possible and your build is really setting the standard! Lots of Pace, Hope, Middleburn - also hope to get some USE bits on there too - more difficult to source mechs, rims, tyres etc from UK manufacturers of course...

Anyway, what a great project so far - really looking forward to the end result!

Thank you for your comments. And yes it would be cool to have a full english bike but no can do. Dont be hunting forever get what ya can get it built and get on it. I am loving this build for many reasons and using this site has helped me alot. But mainly my son is loving it to and wants to build. I could not ask much more in life than to build a bike with my 12yr old son.
Peace out..

Hello Retrowers. I finally got my ride on the tracks last week, and what a dream it is to ride. All comments welcome..

Now for the BIG thank you to you guys, the Retrowers that helped make this possible. The help and advise that I have received from you all has been touching. Makes me wonder why I strayed the path and lost Mountain Biking. Well I do know why, women kid n stuff!! But I am back on it, the bike I stripped more than 10yr ago to respray and just got left in the basement. All the parts were put on a HandsomeDog frame but rarely got used, until this last 2 year. But I think the only parts I have kept is the RS7 crank arms and Hope hubs oh and rear mech and frame ofcourse. Anyway started getting out with my son after buying him a Specialized 24 and he inspired me. So since this build he has been very interested and the 24 is over the seatpost limit. The question came.. Can I build one now Dad.. Yes son, of course you can..

Thank you all. I have enjoyed every minute and look forward to the sons build. PS I have not snapped it yet..

As myself, one of the early thread posters "its just another rotten p7 bin it and move on". I take it all back.

That right there...

Looks like a f'in weapon!

Well done fella, well done for sticking to your guns. Well done on the spec, the Hope stem and riser bar makes that look new. I had to check there wasnt a brake disc on the back.

Was the headtube 11/8? or how did you get a hope to fit? steerer shim?
Get Cracking with Little Mans.
Excellent.
