Does anyone fancy doing this?
I think this is the old CRC MTB Marathon and the loop may be the Killer Loop in the Clwyds taking in Moel Famau & Moel Arthur with stunning scenery I think this could be made into a mini-event.

SCHWALBE MTB Marathon & Road Sportive Series 2013 Powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport - Ruthin: 31st August – 1st September 2013

The little market town in the northern end of Wales is situated on the edge of the Clwydian Range and is spoiled with a varied and well-established trail network, which will have something to offer for everyone. Ruthin has been the traditional series finale and 2013 will be no exception.

Don’t forget! For 2013 we are changing the running order of the activities over the weekend. The MTB Marathon will be run on the Saturday followed by the Road Sportive on the traditional sportive day Sunday. In between we will have some live music and our events bar open to relax after the long day mountain biking.

SCHWALBE MTB Marathon – Ruthin 31st August 2013:

Leading the charge over the final weekend of the 2013 SCHWALBE Series will be the MTB-Marathons offering the riders the biggest choice of courses in this years’ series.

The route will cover four different course lengths:
Full marathon – approx. 80km course
Middle marathon - approx. 70km course
Half marathon - approx. 55km course
Mini marathon - approx. 29km course

As in previous years we will be working with LPFRA (Llanferres Playing Field and Recreation Association) who did a fantastic job providing 65 marshals and making all the tweaks to make the Ruthin course work.

Ruthin Marathon Course 2013

The mountain bike route, always a popular course, starts out heading onto the Clwydian Hills, using all the best there is to ride in the area. Incorporating fast flowing single –tracks, technical forest sections, tough climbs and breath taking descents, guaranteed to be enjoyed all the way to the finish. The course climbs up onto both Moel Arthur and Moel Famau, giving you spectacular views of the surrounding Clwydians and North Wales coast, that is if you can stop long enough to enjoy the view.
