2012 Nukeproof Mega

Re: 2012 Nukeproof Mega *work in progress*

Stem arrived today! Mindmap3 was right in what he said as this one has come with 3mm bolt heads rather than the 4mm ones in the old stem!

I also realised that when I bought the stem faceplate it came with two new sets of bolts (6 silver ones & 6 black ones) which I didn't use because there was nothing wrong with the ones already in the stem! However, now I've looked again these are the newer 3mm bolts!! So I could have saved myself some money if I'd fitted them and not been able to over tighten them! Grrrrr!

Also got my Hans Dampfs from Germany yesterday too! Quick delivery to say they came from overseas! They are pretty big, but not a lot heavier than the panaracers and a fair bit lighter than the Maxxis 2.5's that I had on before!

Looking forward to riding this weekend! It's been a few weeks!

Looking good mate. Those tyres fill the frame and forks nicely. Ar yo running them with tubes or tubeless? I've been well happy with mine and will buy another set when they die although they seem to be wearing well so far.

Nice to see you made an effort with the garden too before taking pics! No weeds, unmoved lawns to mention....just the bike! :D

 Yeah the lawn was freshly mowed!

Tyres are a really nice size, they aren't as big as the 2.5 maxxis I had on previously but they are a fair bit wider than the panaracers!

Looking forward to getting out on it now!...... Hopefully the bars/tyres are money well spent!

When is the next ride planned?

I've got a week in Scotland next week and I can't wait to get the Rune on sone bigger terrain. I've also got a week in Centre Parcs Nottingham if you fancy meeting up for a blast round the red and a session in the bike park?

Took advantage of CRC's cheap XT cassette deal, with a £10 off code I also bought a new chain (so the old chain & cassette can go on the commuter) a gold cassette lock ring and a set of hope jockey wheels, for no other reason than they look blingy!

I think I was lucky with the old tiagra cassette, 18 months use on an alloy freehub and it just slid off with minimal damage!

All fitted! And ready to roll!

Gold chain...you pimp bar steward! Looking good though.

You did well with the freehub wear though; my SLX cassette has chewed the hell out of Easton freehub. I'll be coughing up for an XT one when its time for a new one.

I had a gold chain before, but thought I'd buy a new one to go with the new cassette, even though it wasn't showing much wear! At least I now have the old chain & cassette that have worn together to go on my commuter!

I also have another set of hope jockey wheels as the first set crc sent out had two lower ones in. I rang crc and they sent me another set and didn't want the old ones back! So provided I can use two lower ones, I have a set for the SLX mech on the commuter too! Lol!
