1992 Arthur Caygill - Under new ownership

Thats gorgeous Neil, you've done well there.

Its amazing what a new set of decals do for a bike.

Are you going to keep those tyres? I don't normally like black walled tyres but they look really nice on that frame :D

Not sure about the tyres, they were one of those ebay purchases that you open the packed and go OH!

I have some other tyres on their way, so I think I'll see how it looks when I get them.

Age related seatpost is proving challenging, anyone got any suggestions in 27.2?

Kalloy would probably have one in that size, thats what was on my Zinn Classic. I might have it still but its a bit tatty

Did they not do a DX or Xt in that size to match the rest of the build?

Kalloy is what I have been thinking, as they were very popular back then.

I'm sure there are DX and XT seatpost in 27.2.... it's just finding them. I have found 28.6 and 27, but they are too close to use a shim, and I'm not a great fan of old drink cans, as they are made of pretty weedy stuff these days, and the seat has to support 76 of my butch and manly kilograms.

I would go for a Kalloy.

They are good quality and good value for money and obviously pretty standard on that age build back in the day...

You could use one till a DX or XT ones comes along – of you can be bothered :? without having to use a can of irn-bru :D

It's done, but not yet ridden offroad as it's just too hot.

More photo's once I get out and about.

That looks niiiiiiice. You didn't waste much time putting that together!

Thanks, once I get an idea of what the finished bike is going to look like, I like to crack on.

I did have a couple of hold ups with bottom brackets and the front mech, but it's come out exactly as I wanted it to.
