Mavic 501 laced to?

Interesting build. I think I would have used a 38mm deep carbon rim but if your build works then good news.

A set of 38 mm carbon tubulars would look a bit silly on my 1980 Sannino... then of course there is the budget issue. Plus the pads... where am I going to find pads for carbon that fit super record calipers? And if I do make them myself out of a cork, then I have to change them every time I swap the wheels...
I have tried the rear yesterday and it feels good, stiffer than a Crono 28 holes and the braking seems OK... need to build the front to comment on stopping power

Yes that would have looked silly, at your sannio is coming along. My is still a frame only and a pile of parts but not all of them I need. I still need forks. I am waiting til I have the money to do it properly.

I have got hold of a very rare Mavic 501 rear hub with 24 holes, didn't know they existed at such low spoke count... any idea what to lace it to?
Ideally a late 80-early 90 rim, possibly with a bit of profile, needs to be stiff enough for low spoke count construction... would even go carbon, but I can't face changing pads all the time
Tubular would be best

I have a 24h tubular Mavic "Mach 2 CD-2" if any good to you? It's seen very little use so might be of interest to you (and would be period correct). Also have a 32h Mavic Mach 2 CD 32h - new condition.
