The MK2 GTI?

Need any bits? Thinking of breaking the Corrado for spares, need to get some of the money back I wasted on it.
Don't suppose I'll actually do anything about it till we get back from France, though. Too much else to do.

YES & YES

OK, could get money off scrappie for it but don't like the idea of a good 16v engine and gearbox getting crushed when it could be used. Loads of parts are shared by MK2 GTI and Corrado. My mate's son has a VR6 Corrado so he'll maybe take some of the Corrado specific bits. But as I said it'll be after we get back from holiday.

looks great Jimi

If your car has an OBD port buy a reader from ebay and then look up the code on the web:
reader costs a tenner or so:

pretty cool, thanks for that... unfortunately I have the engineer msg, an irritating squeak from the rear suspension and wifey pulled and snapped the handbrake release clean off thinking it was like the old merc's.. so a few jobs, needing done and beyond my limited ability

Today in Edinburgh stopped at the lights were two super cool customised Yamaha V-Max, one green, one orange with amazing paint jobs. Really like the V-Max from an aesthetic point of view but will never have the guts or cash to own one.
Great weather brings out great motors including a beautifully restored Triumph Stag in yellow, soft top down. My neighbours when I was a child in the 1970's had one while we had a second hand Ford Escort 1100

Replaced the carburetor on the 205 tonight to try and cure the starting problem. Did bugger all, still turning over but not firing up. What's next on the hitlist - fuel pump?

Tried again this morning after giving the battery a full charge overnight. After about 40 seconds of crank in the engine it finally fired up. It's sounding a bit rough but at least it's driving again!

The £280 205 made it through it's MOT today, with just the 2 pages of advisories :D The guy that tested it told me he was a year younger than the car!
