3DV???

Three dimensional violet I believe.

I think Ringle' may have been the company that coined the term.

Of course I could be completely wrong, which has been known to happen....

I remember a member on here, I'm sure he'll be here soon , he was complaining that 3DV was used too often to mean purple but it was actually used by a specific company and he was angry at it being used generally for any kind of purple, so I think it was coined by a manufacturer, but I canny remember who

Yup think it was ringle purple

But hi-jacked to mean anything purple ish

It's was a partnership between two companies to ensure purple parts were all the same colour / depth. Ringle was one company, I can't remember the other.
It means 3D Violet.
3DV is the name of the dye used, the partnership ensured both companies were able to achieve the same colour despite the thousands of variables involved in anodising.

I don't use 3DV currently, there are other purples similar in colour that don't fade when left in the sun for a week.

It wasn't me going on about it, but does anyone know where the thread is that Alison mentions? It sounds like a good read!
