 Always loved the P6 - especially the huge seats!
Lots of insane engineering like inboard discs made them a kind of British Citroen DS.
That is pretty much what they were. Rover bought a DS copied much of its structure and engineering for the P6. Look at the roof line and the windscreen surround, the P6 is almost identical to the DS. Other areas where the DS provided "inspiration" included the inboard discs (as you've pointed out) and the use of a structural "caisson" with unstressed body panels bolted on. If only the DS had been available with a V8 engine! (Although I know a guy who is working on adapting the VW VR6 engine to be retrofittable into the DS).

Well, they almost did the V8 conversion with the SM, although a couple of cylinders short.

here's mine, just sold it

My dad had a few over the years. mk 3 with the vinyl covered roof i think was his favourite.
That one was stolen a total of 13 times
THIRTEEN TIMES  We always got it back but the last time it was burned out so it met a sad end. :(
Problem with fords of that era was that one key in 3 fitted any car. Bad move Ford

My second car was a '73 2000GXL MkIII that cost me £175. In '83 I bought a 1500GT MkII for £60 with a full years MoT, one of the most fun cars I ever had...

After the year was up I bought the 3ltr V6 Granada, used to put £10 of petrol in it a week just to get to work, if we wanted to go anywhere at the weekend I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fund the extra fuel

I traded the Granada in for a Morris Minor!

Brings back memories. Can anyone else remember the number plates? My first was a rust bucket from the early 60s, MNO857C, which I bought off my sister in 1979 ( a Mk1 1500cc) and my second was LGK 61K (a Mk3 1600cc)

I kind of lost track after that as I had between 5 and 8 cars a year for the next few years until my first company car in 1989

My Fizzie was LAH 757P and the Honda 250K4 that followed it was ANU 544L...

...the observant among you won't help but notice the unfortunate index number of the Honda, something I didn't in the shop!

I remember my 2CV was something B** GNU. I so wish it was a private plate:)

I could go through our old pics but not sure now.

My first ever car was a MkII Escort. OSF 742V.

My flatmate had a Capri at the same time and if I was short on petrol I would borrow his car if he was still in bed as the keys were so useless we could take each others cars.

In the Army one of my colleagues have a gorgeous rebuilt Morris Minor which he was heavily into experimenting with tuning and modifying for economy. Every few days we would sneak out, fill up a 5 litre petrol can and too the contents into his tank. He was convinced one of his gizmos e as the answer to world fuel shortages and was writing letters to all the big car makers trying to sell his ideas. My how we soiled ourselves laughing!
