Hi guys. I just wanted to ask people using xtr m950 series v brakes. Or used them in the past.

I have got a set of these set up on my kula. And gotta say they are set up perfect and are very very effective. And i am happy with them. BUT, they rattle quite alot. It seems to me its the linkage arm connected to the parallel push pad connector. Its not a massive issue but i wondered if anyone else has found this. And what you did or didn't do as a result.

I was thinking of adding some small circlips to each v brake to make the small linkage bar a little less sloppy/rattly.

I will await your views. Cheers :D

Parallel push type V brakes did this, XTs were bad, XTRs less so. Shimano used to produce a shim kit to tune them up....... lord knows where you'd find 'em these days. Maybe search e-bay for "Shimano v brake shim kit"?

shim kit and linkage instructions are in the archive.
things like hope disc brake shims can be used, they are just thin metal washers.

you could try Shimano's solution as they altered for the m951 version and engineer/bodge some springs into the pad link.
