Is this just another crap example of this powder coat or should I worry?

Looks solid enough but I'm no expert..

Hhhhmmm .... :?

Crap powder coat would be crap powder coat, nothing more.

Crap powder coat would be missing and you would see metal, not a gap / void in a joint (that's what it looks like) ... :(

Any better pics ?

Will get better pics tomorrow... Typing this in bed!

I kind of agree though WD... If it were plain I'd expect it to run into the joint and clear the gap

Cut a slither of paper and see how far you can get it down the hole / gap (if it is a hole / gap).

Any other signs of a front impact ?

None from forks, they are true as a dime.

I'm no expert but sand blasting wouldn't be harsh enough to blow it out?

In my experiance, no :(

A harsh grit blast would, but then all the sharp edges on the lug and bosses would be gone / damaged / nibbled away etc so I dont think thats the issue.

I am not a frame builder but IMO, the lug should be a very tight / flush fit in the first place rather than having a void to fill - the filler material should only be very thin.

I used silver solder (soft) to fix my forks and they blasted / powder coated perfectly with a very unforgiving gloss black finish - no material removed at all.

Thought as much. Thanks for the reply.

Might be the straw that breaks the camels back on this build.
