Just finished my 1988 Specialized RockHopper comp today

Today i went out for the first ride. Suntour shifters work with no problems together with the Shimano HG50 cassette. Maybe thicker grips (Tioga Biogrip preferably) but overall i´m very pleased with how the bike performs. :D The whole process of rebuilding the bike can be viewed in the thread in the german IBC forum over here (lots of photos): http://www.mtb-news.de/forum/showthread.php?t=605203/

Lovely - a great build. Those colours take me back, that's a very classy year for Specialized.

Yep, it´s the old MTB standard 25,4 mm. The "Cannondale 285" stem was part of the oem equipment of the 1991 C´dale SM 2000.
