My latest acquisition - a 1998 Sunn Notion; size 45cm/18" with chrome-plated Fuji CrMo tubing. I am a big fan of the mid-late 1990's Sunns and always wanted an all-chrome frame, so its a win-win :).

I won it off ebay for £30 BIN after it had been reduced from £45 BIN. I bought it on the 1st Jan and it was delivered on the 4th at 6:20 in the bloody morning . It came complete with the original Sunn 'Obsys' forks, but they're inherently buggered/seized and need a service, so I'm thinking of running some rigid polished alu Onza forks I have lying around (also from late 90's).

This won't be a factory spec build, I'm going to run it with some Deore M510 parts from the year 2000 which I mostly have in the spares box, so almost period correct.

It has quite a large headtube for a size 18" I thought. I will run the stem low as I want it to be racey.

Just got to polish the frame with t-cut and gather the rest of the parts (need a seat post, straight polished handlebar, shifters, BB, Deore 28.6 top pull front mech and some cables).

a pre2000 sunn is always a good start :) like the almost mustard yellow on that bubble sticker.. yes these can turn out really shiny if you polish them well.. see you already have a fork, otherwise u'd find the best match for this frame up on german ebay now.. good luck with the build

A Steel (sorry for the awful pun) at twice the price. If you can get the forks sorted I would, They're cracking forks for XC riding, who needs more than 50mm travel!

Now finally done after over 5 months of gathering parts ;). Still some things need tweaking like the rear V-brake noodle pipe needs replacing as its the wrong kind of angle and is mushy. The bottom bracket could also do with replacing because there's a bit of play in the bearings. Looking to get a Deore LX M570 rear mech from the year 2000 and some 90's Avid V-brakes perhaps. Also have a NOS late 90's Kalloy stem on order that has 0 degree rise. I'd also like to run the Sunn suspension forks pictured in the start of the thread once I get them serviced. Rides nice.
