having been taught a hard (but obviously overdue :( ) lesson about the differences between ISO and JIS when it comes to crown race id's, i find myself with two headsets that can't be used on my newly acquired 1" pace RC35's.

The question is.... i have a spare campag chorus headset from a roadbike that will fit, it doesn't look any different, parts-wise, to an offroad specific headset, so is there any reason not to fit it?.

cheers Matt

None whatsoever IMHO

I used a needle bearing Stronglite for years on my old Bromwich and many bikes in the late late 80's and early 90's had road headsets fitted (Merlin Mountains had Shimano 105's)

Road headsets were standard practice BITD - dura ace, 600AX and the like were often found on top end bikes as were road hubs because top end road stuff was leagues ahead of top end MTB stuff.

I believe the original modified headset for the Pace RC100 was a Shimano 105.

I've not imagined that have I? Don't think I have
