Raleigh RSP Ti

Re: Raleigh RSP Titanium - nearly finished!

Have been toying with the idea of getting the quakes done orange or if i could get the decals redone in orange that would be fine. I do have some mark 1 fsa afterburners that i could use but want. To polish them up and the spiders a very tight fit.

EDIT : thought i would add a piccy of the proper side to be piccy'd :D annoyed i marked the saddle :(

Re: Raleigh RSP Titanium - nearly finished!

Thanks, see her in all her glory now!
Beautiful CNC work on the chain stays and joints, bikemeister2000 praised these frames highly .
I honk plain silver Quakes with no decals wouldn't clash at all. Though orange would work nice too as you said.
Lovely cranks, at first glance I thought they were Raceface Turbines- which incidentally would look really good!
I'm thinking of changing this RSP wheels shifters and gears.

Re: Raleigh RSP Titanium - Evolution....

Well, the next stage in the Evolution of this bike.
Seeing as I have a Phil Wood Bottom Bracket and a Phil Equipped decal on the frame...

I bought a pair of lovely polished Campagnolo Atek rims, together with a pair of Phil Wood hubs.
I built up (from Brick Lane Bikes) the wheels using Phil Wood DB Spokes.

And have changed the front wheel to the new one - complete with Continental Dunlop valves tubes and Michelin Wildgripper Sprint S.

And the wheel looks fantastic - I think.

Took her out for a spin, and the hub is smmooooooth, and much lighter than I expected, in fact there's no weight gain at all, probably some weight loss - oh and I also got rid of that wretched USE Alien seat post and replaced it with a Syncros Titanium Seatpost - and it is a million times better - just need some decals for it.

Added Syncros Metal Stem cap! :))
I had to buy a mashed up stem, for £8 - and it had a metal cap! yyess!

Next step is to source a freewheel and replace the Sun chain rings for slightly larger Specialites TA rings in Silver.

Added the rear Campagnolo Atek rim and Phil Wood hub, bought a lovely NOS Sachs Maillard Aris 7 speed Freewheel, and here she is;

And took it for a ride - NICE, definitely heavier than before by about 2 lbs but smoother, much smoother, steers better, and feels much better - and looks the business.
And the M008 shifters surprisingly shifted the 7 speed Sachs-Maillard no problem - bizarre!

Have bought some Suntour XC Pro 7/8 spd thumbies, so might replace the M008 shifters - the good thing about the XC Pro is that I can chop and change 7 and 8 speed without a problem, and I am going to mount the Smoke/Darts on the XTR M900/ Mavic 231/M950 8 speed wheels as a second light weight wheel set for this bike.

next step - the TA rings and Syncros decals on the seatpost ...

Re: Raleigh RSP Phil Wood Titanium - Evolution....

Evolution...

Changed the outer and mid Sun Ringle to lovely polished Specialites TA rings.
I left the Granny Ring - but looking at it I think it needs to be gone and replaced with the silver TA Granny.
And after that, Syncros decals for the seatpost and will revert back to the black Smoke/Darts and Finished!

Re: Raleigh RSP Phil Wood Titanium - Evolution....

Looking good Ibbz  I'm not a fan of green tyres so I look forward to seeing it with the Smoke & Dart's on. Another option to consider for shifters is XT M732 as these can also be used for 7 or 8 speed.

P.S. Did you get your hands on that 853?

Thanks Fudd!
The Wildgrippers are coming off today, I'll put those on the XTR M900/Mavic 231 wheels, as they're lightweight and would probably suit the lighter wheels.

I will post a picture up when I do so.

The M008 shifters are performing surprisingly well with the 7 speed freewheel - only issue is it takes two clicks rather than 1 to shift to the highest cog!! :) So my Suntour XC Pro 7/8 speed shifters I bought for this bike will stay in the box.

No luck with the 853 frane, I bid £100 and it went for £102 - I was out bid at the last SECOND! No matter though as I am now inclined to get myself a Racer instead, lugged frame 531c etc etc :)

Re: Raleigh RSP Phil Wood Titanium - Evolution....

This is a great looking bike, you have done a top job with it, am I right in thinking that this is the 1999 rsp 600 frame that would of originally been painted yellow and blue??
Did you put the smoke / dart tyres back on? Any up to date pics please?

I've got one on its way to me, should be here around the beginning of February time, it is still painted in the yellow and blue, but I like the idea of raw ti, did you strip the paint yourself or get a specialist to do it?

Nice one! The yellow livery is stunning and the paint work is top rate.
I bought it already stripped . The raw Ti leaves a nice patina after a while and looks great. It's also easier to source parts that don't clash for.
Would love to see what you have
