looking to buy a Roadie bike

Neil

Just like MTBs the handmade road frames are the ones to have, especially if the builder's name is on the down tube: Like a Masi made by Faliero Masi himself. There are exceptions for instance neither Ernesto Colnago nor Cino Cinelli built frames after their companies started to grow. But both makes retained their stature long after the founder retired to the executive suite. And with Masi some of the most desired Gran Criteriums were made in California not Italy. Come to think of it, I am with you, this sh***t is confusing.

It's a handmade English road frame I'm after.
That's how I like my MtBs and that's what I'm looking for in a racer or tourer .
The difference is that I think a lugged frame would be more attractive than a welded frame.
And the quality and class of lug is a factor.
Whereas in MtB it's different stuff to look out for.
As for myself in MTBs it's either steel or Ti and steel all the way in Road.
I don't rate Aluminium nor Carbon at all, throw away stuff
