Merckx's Silver Frames

Hello all,

Does anyone know what the deal is with the silver frames Eddy Merckx was sometimes seen riding? Where they from a particular period in his career,
or from a particular builder?

I've seen a couple of pictures of these frames with Reynolds tubing decals.
Does this mean they were more likely to have been made outside Italy (e.g.
by Kessels)? I assume his De Rosa, Colnago etc frames would more likely have been made with Columbus tubes.

Cheers,

Johnny

IIRC Eddy was riding silver frames with blue panel on downtube only during his last pro season- 1977. (Team was sponsored by C&A) I don't know who made them...

Even just after posting I was asking myself; "was it a blue panel or a yellow panel?" Checking out SWijland's Merckx frames, I'm still not sure... I would get my coat, if I could remember where I left it.. :?

Also during his brief 'FIAT' spell?

Blimey you're right- that'll teach me to answer posts in a hurry!
My new best guess- '77- Fiat team- silver with blue panel. '78- C&A team-silver with yellow panel?
