I pressed the headset into my STS using my Grandad's woodworking vice. Worked an absolute treat

I use two blocks of hard wood, and one sash cramp. Works a treat, and the sash cramp has a myriad other uses, such as cramping sashes. It's best done with two people; one to hold the blocks of wood and other to position the headset cup and tighten the screw.

Did you have to go steady before they would let you?
Seriously, unless you are really into spending on tools a bit of threaded rod and a few washers and nuts are sufficient. I prefer to do it with a mallet, but my grampa taught me to hit everything with a mallet.
