2012 Nukeproof Mega

Re: 2012 Nukeproof Mega *work in progress*

Few more 'dress up' bits added, just because I'm a bit of a bike tart.

Nukeproof wheel stickers
Hope seat clamp
Hope grip doctors
Bullet dust caps (feel like I'm 12 again)

Nothing to really improve the bike, apart from looks. But it ties everything in really nicely!

Good stuff. How was it up there last Monday? I thought about heading up there but decided that its be heaving so went out on the road bike instead and fried!

I rode Cannock in the Saturday and it rained! Looking at your pics, I chose the wrong day.

It was rammed mate, as we pulled into the car park the wardens came out and ended up stopping people and made them queue it was one in one out jobby! had we been 2 minutes later we'd have been waiting a while.

The trails were busy, until you got to the bit after the railway crossing, where it just seemed to die off a lot.

There were a lot of diversions on and it was a very very hot day!

I cannot believe how much climbing there is on the trail though, and it really doesn't seem to be rewarded with much descending. Black sections were Good though.

Re: 2012 Nukeproof Mega *work in progress*

There is a fait bit of climbing to do on the Monkey (after the rail way crossing). Trouble is at the mo that the fun section down to the the crossing is closed as one of the fun sections on the Monkey.

I like the but after one of the clims with the rock features in...just needs a few more. If I'm honest I usually do a short cut on the Monkey and just do the last two descents and their associated climbs. The worst climbs are the fire road ones...I quite like the techy ones with the switchbacks.

I think they've not done too bad a job given the lack of elevation. There are one or two good bits off piste too.

I agree with what you do! The last two decents are good fun, and if id missed out the other bits of the monkey trail id have enjoyed them even more! Next time I think we will do that!

As for the bit down to the railway, we followed a path at the side of the road it sends you down, nothing too mad, but its fast and there was plenty of roots and stuff to pop off.

Re: 2012 Nukeproof Mega *work in progress*

That's quite good fun, but the but of the Dog that is closed is much more fun. It's not very steep, but is gravity assisted with berms and jumps. The last bit that drops you sown to the crossing us good fun too.

More importantly, how was the bike?

The bikes great mate! Love riding the thing!

The only thing i need to change now as a result is the road block on the back (11 - 25), I need a bigger range of gears at the back.

Thinking 11 - 34.... with a new chain. That way i can donate these to the commuter.

Re: 2012 Nukeproof Mega *work in progress*

Yeah, I can imagine that a close range cassette like that would be hard work especially on the long fire road slogs.
