Finally finished the Merlin. Bought the frame from a fellow retrobiker about a year ago.
Went through a year long fork dilemma. Finally found a mint Manitou 1, which I think suits
this frame perfectly. The lizard skins were on the fork when I got it.

This is a very nice Merlin.

Just two questions, what year is it? I suppose the decals are new, right? (if it is a 90 or 91 model then the decals would be black)
and what is the diameter of seatpost? 27.2 or 27mm? I've the same Merlin and only fits a 27 mm seatpost.

Nader,
I was told that its a 89. And the decals are original. I am not sure how accurate that is.
I will do a bit of research and get back to you.

What's the serial number?

I'm sure the seat post diameter is 27.2 just like every other merlin ever made

I will get more pics up tomorrow. The serial number is 1812. Not sure of exact year. I am sure someone on the site will know the date codes for Merlin. The group and levers are XT 8 speed. Brakes ONZA. The rims are XTR. Overall this bike rides super well.
