What's peoples thoughts on galvanising a frame?

My father had a frame hot dip galvanised in the 80's, as he was paranoid about corrosion, but it left a rough finish and it increased the weight by about a kilo!!

Properly prepared powder coating or wet painting will be fine, and internal protection such as waxoil etc... is a good idea.

nos bullmoose bars fitted, foam grips, 2 righthand m100 brake levers (karma from clockd all the way from NZ) one turned upside down. some tanwalled schwalbe hardliners, and today a 80's (best guess from the metal badge) Brooks conquest in black leather and yellow metalwork. Just a front brake cable guide to fit (I'll have to nip round mate's shop as it's starfish headset nuts) and then Voila! back in original spec, except for the pedals which are fugly and just don't seem to fit aesthetically.

just rear tyres to change, the pedals to source (it came with shimano pd-a200, butt ugly) and fit a front brake hanger as these bars haven't got one. Mind that saddle is rock hard.
