Thanks for the extensive and informational response! I will look into some new brake pads and hope for the best, I agree with your advice and have decided instead of putting lots of $$$ into my retro ride I will keep it as is for the most part and save my cash for a freeride/DH rig off pink bike when I move. As for a new lid and gear I picked up a fox half shell for now and plan on picking up a more expensive full face when I move to flagstaff AZ, I was able to score a cheap fox short sleeve jersey on eBay which should be here this week. Stoked and can't wait to get out and ride tomorrow. Cheers!
