I'm restoring another splatter paint explosif and i was wondering how do you go about insuring an old bike like that. Is there specialist company's who take into account what it is and how hard to replace if they were to be stolen.

Any thoughts??

Move to a better area

Or just buy £50 worth of scratch cards ,£20 worth of cheap cider and leave them in front of the intended theft

That might work up your way, especially the cider, down here you'd need to put crates and crates of alcopops in front of it to stop them. By the time they'd drank there way threw them and fought eachother, they'd be in no state to nick it :)

You've answered your initial question mate

Dunno , try some of the ctc affiliated insurers ,even some of the specialist motor insurers , footman James
Adrian flux and the like , it's not summat I've thought or worried about to be honest , but the premiums seem a bit unrealistic
A couple of hunderd quid for a grand and a halfs worth of bike , that's theft only
I pay £180 for 3 large motorcycles comp

Actually I have my bikes insured on my std home contents policy. I declared the value myself, then just got the friendly LBS to write a declaration of value certificate.

Note my policy doesnt cover them if left chained up somewhere other than home but imao you should only do that with something not worth insuring.
