loose cassette

I picked up a very nice set of Cosmic pro tubulars around about christmas for Campag 8 speed cassettes - i've fitted one, tightened it up as far as it will go, but the sprockets are loose - not side to side as such, but up and down a wee bit. It is noticeable enough to rattle if i drop the rear end. I'm not missing any spacers as far as I can tell - was wondering if perhaps there was a special Mavic lockring I should use?
Anyone got similar experience or a potential fix?

You need a spacer specific for a 8 speed cassette, a thin alu. one

What he said, Mavic are a pain in the arse that way, as normally if you buy them second hand without a cassette the spacer tends to have vanished. I just experimented with stiff in the bottom of my parts box until I found one that worked.
