RETRO REFURB ADVICE NEEDED

hi

thanks for the comments

yeah we had some original white half hoods on the mafac levers, but they were completely shot. was considering just leaving as is. not sure yet.

just need to find some decent white cables, tubs, and couple of other small bits.

yep, thinking it's going to have to be brown brooks tape to match the saddle...

however, has anyone tried this?: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fizik-microtex-bar-tape/

just saw your link

i actually have the originals, just hadn't put them in yet.

i might replace with new ones though. :)

Just found your post. The above is a link to mine, the only new parts are the tubs, chain, cable inners, hoods & brake adjuster covers. The hoods & adjuster covers came from USA,about £150 iirc, apart from that, the bike is as it left the shop, was ridden around northern France by a Hinds works rider,Kevin Scrivens,& stuck in a shed until recently.Kevin couldnt believe the before & after.

Just noticed that your legwork is a lot fancier (dead jealous) than mine.I do know that mine was built by Hinds,Kevin did tell me the name of the frame builder,I think it was Bird,or something like that.

so is your bike actually a hinds built frame?

the one i have is not hinds, it just had a hinds sticker.

Yes,it was built by Hinds for Kevin Scrivens.

Probably built by Alec Bird for Hinds for Kevin. I don't think Hinds actually had an in-house builder but used one (or more) of the many 'itinerant' builders in the London area. Lots of shops did this.
