East Midlands Area chat and rides thread

Riding from Cademan Woods this coming Tuesday (30th) . Meet 7pm Bulls Head car park, Thringstone. How dry is it Ian?

The woods were rolling well last Friday :D
Suprisingly dry. The only exception being the Peter Rabbit climb which is soft going, but rideable.
The fallen trees have been cleared from the board walks too.

Good ride on Sunday. Some tough hills.

Out on the P7 tonight.

Just in case you're getting bored of ripping through the trees; on offer tonight is our regular lovely twisty technical route, or a longer flatter less technical Swannington route that starts and ends in the woods. A tour that theads through the senic heart of the Coalville extra urban area.

The flatter route starts climbs straight through the woods.
Decend on the road through the housing estate and on to the sustrans route, passing behind the Hermitage Leisure centre.
Take the Bridal Way to Stephensons College, then a fast straight bridal way to Swannington,
Up on to the ridge via the steep bridalway praying for dryness.
The farm track along the ridge may have some muddy bits
Along to Hoo Ash Island.
A mile on the road down hill in to Coalville,
There is an option here to ride a loop around Snibson Discovery park.
Then through the urban park, over the bridge of doom, although we can ride around it too.
Back though the old railway cuttings near to Halfords.
Then retrace our outward leg passed the Hermitage Leisure Centre.
I'm afraid there is a dragging road climb up to the Rag and Mop pub, but on the plus side, it's the big flowy decent straight afterwards. Board Walks (or Whitwick-Shore if you will) and it's home for tea and medals.

Either is good.

cheers
Hidetherum
