Tubes suitable for unicrown forks probably weren't available in 501/531.

That makes sense, good thinking. Strange though to not get a proper sticker as opposed to the tippex job!

I've just found this forum while looking for images of an Overbury's Wildcat. The green bike I found looked incredibly like my own 1985 Claud Butler Canyon. I had no idea it was cool, but you're not gonna like what I did with it! Maybealso not the fact that it was a swopsie for an 84 Stumpy, because I didn't like the colour of Stumpy!

It'scome on a little since then. The rims have been swopped for wide period items, Brooks grips fitted, and better mudguard stays. Apart from that, this is my default winter country bike, but also makes a great London bike, having done two World Naked Bike Rides so far!

Personally I think it's genius! Love the flask.

My 1989 Raleigh 531 Team, with pretty much complete Suntour XC Comp Group.

My 1987 Saracen Kili Flyer, 531 handbuilt frame and forks with complete Deore MT-60 group.
