91 Merlin retro/modern/custom build (aka the Merlingham)

Thanks for all the kind words, and encouragement. :p

The brakes take an enormous amount of time (filing, drilling, tapping, polishing, etc) and since I haven't actually used them yet I would not want anyone else to be the first to put their lives on the line. Before all is said and done I will have then anodized. I haven't yet decided on clear or black.
 
I small update to whet the appetite.

I picked up this crucial bit of kit recently.

They are WTB shifter mounts. Took me a few years to find them. So they're either rare or I'm not well connected in the retro MTB crowd, or both :?

Ah, for XT thumb shifters. Now I get why there's a cable stop there. Still can't quite picture how these are mounted. Looking forward to seeing these. I'm sure you could have fabricated something real nice if you never ended up sourcing a set. ;)
 
Believe me I've thought about how to fabricate these. I've not come up with feasible plan yet.

Ah! they are fitted sideways. Makes sense now. Very cool! ;)
