Schwinn Bomber/Klunker bike, circa 1979

Recently acquired this from the original owner who worked in a PA shop back in the late 1970's.  They scavenged together some bits from the shop basement and went out "bombing".  The bike shows a lot of evidence of being used hard and put away wet, including a few frame/handlebar repairs.  Kinda neat to see what folks were doing before there were official "mountain bikes"

Love it.....but that saddle mod could do some painful damage... :-o
Supposedly made from an old fork blade!
Cool find and great story.
Guess the seat mod is to stop the saddle slipping backwards, bet that seatpost wasn't built for jumpin!

The old seatpost clamps weren't very robust and the Schwinn seatposts were undersized and prone to bending. Guess you wouldn't be raising or lowering the saddle too frequently!
