First ride on the Tomac Signature ...

This morning I decided to finish it up with parts on hand as the weather was supposed to be beautiful and i really wanted to try it out. Still a few changes to be made to restore it to as MBA-tested condition. The rear hub (currently a REALLY LOUD Hugi :) ) and rim, front rim, brake pads, bar off the top of my head. The really beat up parts are from the original MBA test and race at Big Bear as well as whatever other races they may have done since - so they will stay. My personal preference is to find a 0 rise T-Bone and replace the 10 degree rise stem.

Here are some Droid-phone shots:

I have to tell you guys ... these bikes ride like no others. Really quite unique and exceptional. No I can't explain it - to paraphrase a famous statement "I can't define it but you'll know it when you ride it"

I'm still smiling afterwards ...

BTW: Looking a pair of Mavic 231 CDs :)

Re: First ride ...

Wow. Serious respect for getting the Tomac dirty, would love to give one a blast!

Was this the actual bike MBA tested?

Only bad thing about this thread is the title, think too many will miss it !

Re: First ride ...

Respect! You chose the bike over the Aprilla!

I took my Raleigh Peak out on maiden voyage yesterday even after peer pressure from pals to go out on motorbike (Gixxer)!

I was so proud thet I resisted and had great morning out in the sun....pedalling!

Nice looking bike(s)!

Hi John,

Thanks for he props. For some, admiring beauty from afar is enough; for me getting dirty with it is what it's all about.

Yes it I the actual bike the Wrecking Crew at Mountain Bike Action tested and raced as which appeared in the November 1992 issue.

Thanks again,

Paul

The weather was perfect for riding either and it was a tough choice of one animal over the other but in the end Tomac beat the Ape.
Gixxer - NICE!

Stay well

A few from this morning.

I wish someone had volunteered to ride one so that I didn't have to walk them both through the trail ... :D

Will do!

If you happen to be in the Tri-State area, we'll have to meet up.
