hi guys !
was hoping you might be able to help. just aquired an orange bike
looks very much like the alliminium-o. same stays etc
pop riveted cable holder thingys.
bike is original paint with orange stickers but the model type is missing.
the colour of the bike is lime green to slight yellow then white (fade).
also the bottom mech area seems weird it has a wheel at the back where the cable must have went round at some time.
im 99.9 per cent certain its an ally-o!
question is what date?

Hi there :D .... welcome to the world of "O"!!
Sounds like a really different example you've got there tobydog. This black one has welded cable guides, the later one has the riveted ones you describe but are all top tube mounted.Doesn't sound like an original orange colour.... more like a custom but as has been said before, Orange were known to do some different stuff from time to time!!?. Would be great to see some pics in a post
As for the date, Cherrybomb did agreat post recently that helped me date my "O"s from frame number ( under b/b )

here.... http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... c&start=30

There's a classic orange and white "O" coming soon that should really appeal to the Orange afficionado's.... watch this space

Cheers all,
boy"O"boy

thanks for that!!!
will definately post some pics next couple of days !
and the serial number
ive been looking on here over the weekend to try and find more info and
not really found what im looking for
like you say might be a one off. i noticed a picture of one of the members (orange) racing road bike its exactly the same colour lime/ yellow /white
another thing to add my cable guides look diferently placed to the pictures on yours mate( edit just re-read your post these ones are all top tube mounted)
serial number is A1086758 makes it 10th month 88 or 98?
surely its not 98 looks older than that

and another notice replaceable gear hanger?
also three cable guides to top tube and almost certain without going back in the garage none on the underside of the bottom tube
so the front mech cable goes from the top tube down to round the pulley wheel back up to mech i guess? weird or what? :p

Nice one tobydog  ..... thats an "O" you've got there.

The serial number on my later one is A1086840. ...If you take the 1 as being '91 and the 08 as August, the build date of yours is almost identical to mine. A / 1 / 08 / 6758 ( well thereabouts!! )

Interesting than it has the same cable routing and hanger. Mine doesn't have the pulley wheel though.... I had to source a top pull mech.

The graphics are later but I like the colour way. It's another take on the orange/white fade.

Good work fella.... :D Happy to help with graphics as I have spare.

Cheers,
boy"O"boy
