What component from BITD do you miss the most?

So what component that is no longer manufactured from pre-97 do you miss the most? For me its probably two things. The first is the XT headset with the 1/4 inch bearings. I put one of those on my 92 Stumpy as an upgrade and the thing was bomb-prooof. The other is more general - its the XC rims. Seems almost impossible to get strong light reasonably narrow rims today that you could run 1'' slicks or 2.35 inch XC knobbies.

What about you?

Firstly, about xc rims....what's wrong with Mavic xc717s? Or even 317s?

Now to favourite component....tricky but I've got two.
American classic skewers - simple, light, unique slightly quirky design.
Royce Bottom bracket - light, well engineered, shiny, TITANIUM.

You can still buy these new. They're made just down the road from me!

Still pricey, but I suspect that they now cost less than they did in relative terms; any idea what they cost in the 90s?

Cup and cone bottom brackets, either Shimano XT or SunTour XC Pro, both are top notch. I still drive them today. :xmas-big-grin:

Suntour XC Pro stuff.

Tioga Surefoot VIIs.

X-Lite stubbies.

And I'm gonna say it, Onza bar ends.

Oh, oh, and Zoom stems.

Campagnolo!
What's the matter with them - after finally getting it really right with Record OR and Icarus, they threw the towel in. Guess their heart just wasn't in MTBs.
