Bottom Brackets - which is best?

Quality of bearings and seals, can you service it or get it serviced or just chunk it in the bin after a year of hard use, Royce tick the boxes for me.Will it out last the other makes.Again research comment from others as you are doing.
As in all things you get what you pay for imo.

Ps I got up at 0530 so brain not in gear when i first replied.

Thanks for that.

My early morning posts are at the end of a night shift and my brain switches off at 0430 usually - i have not worked out what time it starts working at yet!!

Just fitted a Shimano UN-55 to my 2009 Bianchi Via Nirone and it looks like a decent bit of kit for the £15 it cost.

The Stronglight (made under licence by Kinex) JP400 square-taper unit is pretty good and not expensive at all. Comes in 3 types - plastic cups (light but extractor tools can chew up the splines), steel cups (cheap but heavy) and alloy cups (light but will cost a tad more, watch out for chewing-up issues here too). The lower-end Tange-Seiki units are good value too, but seem difficult to source in the UK; the one on my tourer cost me about 14 quid from eBay.
