I was wondering whether the CK nothreadset comes with a top race.
There wasn't one with my frame/headset.
As I am having problems with it.
I fit it, tighten it and there's still lateral movement, left to right wobble with the steerer.bars/fork and the Bearing cap ring ontop of the top cup shifts/slides from side to side- it behaves like when say another different make A- headset lacks a top race thing

Any advice?
Is the position of the starnut critical perhaps?

Is it an older one with the O ring in the top race to take up the clearance? If so, there's your problem. The O ring gets flattened over time and allows some slack to appear.
A new O ring would go some way towards curing it but in my opinion it was a pretty rubbish system for what was thought to be a top-flight product.
I believe that CK didn't use the split compression ring to avoid having to pay royalties to Cane Creek - I could be wrong of course.
I never use anything but Cane Creek....

Could be simply that your top cap doesn't have enough room spare to take up all the slack before hitting the steerer tube. I the above, or something else?

Ill take some snaps and show what the headset is like.
Not sure I have an O ring. Is that the split ring ?
Seems I may be lacking a part perhaps?

so just add another spacer. seems like the most likely problem. no?

Fair enough. But I didn't say it was an absolute solution, just the easiest/most obvious.

Thanks man! I guess this takes the place of the Cane Creek type O ring! :)
