It's all a matter of personal choice I guess, the alloy frame and light weight components make this bike weigh in about the same ( maybe a bit less ) as my steel frame single speed road bike.
SS is getting bigger all the time here now, it's very popular in London. As supply of the older steel racing bike frames dry up I think that lightweight, cool retro mtb's will begin to trend....then you will see lots more around the place.
