I had a 1.6 GTI, alas it ended up rather banana shaped.
My second 205 was an STDT, effictively a 1.6 GTI but with a 1.9TDI engine
Adjustable fuel pump wound up it would easily out perform my bent 1.6 and still get mid 40's to the gallon. I only sold it because the heater matrix packed up and i couldn't be arsed to take half the car apart to fix it :roll:

Partner's got a 205 cj convertible she uses for work most days, great little car, and there amazingly strong, the poor thing got rear-ended by a lorry in January and lived (with some replacement panels) good mpg and fun to drive, I keep thinking about buying myself a gti.
