And today I did......

Tonight I'll be building my 4th bicycle wheel ever and only the second rear wheel, the first was not pretty but worked.
Spokes are sitting on my desk as I speak and I'm praying I got the measurements right as the hub was not in any spoke calculator database I could find but thankfully the rim was. Building a Sun Ringle Phat Albert rim onto a Proline 135mm freehub. I alway mess up lacing the wheel at least once but usually get the tensioning right slowly but surely. Dont use a jig, just use the forks or frame I'm going to put the wheel in with some screws on blue tac to use for alignment gauges. Hopefully I won't swear too much and upset my cat

Prior to building my first set of wheels I had only replaced rims on 3 wheels that were already built.
Used the "tape new rim to old, transfer spokes over and then true method", the all subsequently, to my surprise, survived to spin again.
Then decided to build a set of Hope-hubbed disc wheels for my full-suspension bike. I had an empty house in which to swear as much as I required as my wife and girls were far enough away to be out of earshot, in New Orleans. Wheels are still fine, years later. Would like to build another pair as I've rims and hubs in hut but I'm no paying for their flights oot the country to get the freedom to swear in the volume that happens when I'm frustrated. :roll:

gmac, as I'm no expert on wheels this could be complete bollocks, but 3mm on the diameter would mean 1.5mm on a spoke so possibly OK. Read somewhere about spokes coming in 2mm increments in length so unless the spokes were already on long side they might be OK.

Think i'll need to learn, have two sets to get built at the moment, a disc brake set for the Zaskar and new rims to go on the road bike, gets expensive when paying someone to build multiple sets :roll:

Got my PC fixed during the week, multiple problems, slow to boot up, pop ups, suspected virus, Firefox not launching etc, guy that fixed it is sh!t hot , he collected the tower from the house at 9.00 Tuesday night and it was fully serviced, repaired and updated by 10.00 Wednesday morning , he dropped it off 7.30 Wednesday night all for 40.00 , it's all working lightening fast now.

Continuing my bargain hunting both were got from Wiggle with 60% off So so far thats 50% off the frame. 60% of the cockpit and I'm eyeing up a pair of Rev's with 50% of anaw! Wheels and dropper post will be another matter though.

What was the idea on the wheels K ? Pro 2's or something else.

Nice bars, good spot might go for a pair of them myself for the purple build(if it ever happens)

Its a lovely bar Andy, well as far as bars go! Nice peened finish looks quite robust and shouldney get too worn or faded any time soon. Aye, at the moment Hopes are favourite, probably a pair of Hope Hoops, ProII's on Flow EX's. I really fancied a pair of gold rims but the Hope Hoops are really hard to beat for value and performance. If I go to a Hope Tech dealer I can spec coloured hubs (probably red or gold).
