Mavic Open 4 Ceramic Mavic 501 & 105 8 speed hubs
Pair of very nice 36 spoke Open 4 Ceramic rims on a Mavic 501 front hub and 105 8 speed rear. These were hardly used unfortunately the rear braking surface took a knock somewhere along the line when (I think) one of my frames fell against it in the spare room (DOH!) consequently there is a chunk is missing on the drive side. This is 21mm across at its widest point and as you can see approx 3/4 the depth of the braking surface. I've used the wheel as it and didn't notice a much difference in the braking to be honest.
The rear hub runs decently smoothly for its type with no hint of notchiness or hesitation though I never serviced it as it really didn't do much work. The freehub is the hybrid uniglide/hyperglide type and will accept 8/9/10 speed hyperglide cassettes as well as 8 speed uniglide cassettes.
The front is in mint condition and same as the rear has had very little use, the rim is near perfect in fact. The Mavic hub runs super smooth as you would expect, I've used 501s for many different wheels including mountain bike and they are some of the best hubs ever made BITD.
These aren't super light at 888g front/1080g rear (sans skewers) but will be around when most of the lightweight stuff has long worn out.
Reason for selling, well I'm downsizing my hoard and I already have a pair of Open SUP ceramics amongst many many other wheelsets I've being seduced into buying, can't be too greedy can I ;o)
So taking into account the damage to the rear I'm asking £150 collected, extra £11 for fully insured courier, if you are in remote areas of UK/highlands/NI then the delivery costs go up considerably, please ask for accurate quote..
