Continental Montana tyres...what period?

I have a pair of NOS Conti Montanas which I'd like to use, however I do think period correct tyres make/break a bike. Anyone able to give me an idea what time period they would be correct for? Conti off-road stuff was fairly uncommon here in the antipodes BITD and I can't remember seeing them.

First review I saw (MTBR) was dated 1999. I have a set as well Shogun, as well as a set of Conti Atlantas and a bunch of others. I love the darned things, but they sure are a bitch to mount!

They look like a good mud tire.

Yeah thats the ones, cheers! Would have expected they were much older given the open pattern and deep, paddle knobs look pretty old tech. As you say, I expect they would be good in the mud.
