Mercain Strada Speciale Restoration/Single speed

So here's my 'budget' restoration.

Got the frame from my friend for £80, it was in pretty bad shape as he painted it with graffiti paint.

Took it in for a respray at my local painters:

Cleaned the headset which had paint on it:

Next I got some custom decals made in metallic gold, stuck them on and clear coated the decals:

Final process is this so far. I'm lug lining at the moment in white, then getting the seatpost next week.

Thanks. And I've near enough done the 'clover' type parts like that but fully filled them white.

Convention would place the name somewhat further up the down-tube. I'll admit that I don't know why... You may have justification, rationale or even precedent for putting it where you did.... and of course you need none of these... you can put it where you like!

I'll admit it was a misplacement of the decals, I realised it after I had put them on

:facepalm: But as it would destroy the decals removing them, I just left it where it was.

£90 for the paint job, so not too bad. Would have been £150 with lugs painted so decided to lug line the frame instead.

Yup I have a modern geared road bike, so decided to single speed this one. No regrets though as it's great.
