Bar tape recommendations

I'm currently building up a bike with drops (my first for 30 years!)
Back then, I used insulating tape in funky patterns, but now i need comfort and ,my hands have grown big and hairy. I need something to pad the bars out a bit. What is there?

The standard cork tape similar to Cinelli, but any manufacturer will do, is quite comfy and it looks pretty good on a retro bike. Some folks I know who have pain issues with their hands will double wrap but that gets really sloppy really quick. Another option is to get a extra thick padded glove.

If you can find some (ribble & ebay are the only sources so far) i'd say Eleganza Bike Ribbon is the comfiest i've ridden with - no idea what it's made of but it's extremely soft & padded, looks like leather with perferations & stitching for that retro look. It's supple as well so wrapping is easy - all in all it ticks all the boxes.

+1 to that. It used to go under the name Stella Azzura but believe that it's now called bike ribbon: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/bike-ribbon-eleganza-bar-tape/

Cinelli or Deda a good. They stretch well wich allow neat taping and lining p of the logos which is very important. Fizzik, arundel tape e.t.c is very well padded bt does not stretch well so neat tapping is more difficult. Cinelli tape is well padded so it's all I use.

GGel cushion kit and any tape you like :)

Another recommendation for that Cinelli gel stuff, it really does make a good difference.
