In the second week of September we are planning to do the C2C. So far we've got the box standard route. I was wondering if anyone has some tips for me on the route. I am wondering for example if it is worth adjusting the route to do Scafell Pike.

Basically all tips will do (clothing, accomodation, route, pubs and so on)

Many thanks in advance,

Casper

Can't help you now, but I'm walking that C2C route in June so might have a better idea after that :)

You must do the Old Coach Road section. It's the best bit of offroad on the offical C2C. There are some great trails around the Whinlatter centre as well. Check out the stone podium just before the Hartside climb.

We did Whitehaven to Newcastle last summer and it was a good adventure, albeit the amount of offroad was a little disappointing. Deffo seek out your own detours. Navigation of the route is really well signed but we had maps and GPS backup.

Take cameras! You need the tyre in the water shots at the start and finish.

I went with one set of cycling gear and one set of casual. Flip flops are a godsend - lightweight and comfy.

Stock up on food in the mornings. We got a taste for pan au chocolate and bananas.
